Allocate funds to purchase a sliding table saw. The detailed proposal and its budgeting is subject to conditions in the Background section.

Background

The Table Saw Committee (a discussion group of interested members) started in mid-October 2017 with the goal of selecting a new table saw for the space. By the end of the year the Committee has settled on Hammer K3 as the leading candidate for proposal. In early January, we have confirmed with following pricing with a sales representative from Felder Group USA (owners of the Hammer brand) for the Committee's preferred configuration:

Item Price
Hammer K3 48x48" (Sliding Table Extension Included) $4190
Rolling Carriage $121
Lifting Bar $95
Edging Shoe $40
Extra 800mm/31" Rip-Fence Round Guide Bar $420
Dado Blade Set $380
Scoring Unit $449
80mm Scoring Blade $95
250mm Universal Saw Blade $53
Tax (8.5%) $497
Discount (10%) -$584
Freight $470
Total $6225

The price reflect a sale discount offering, guaranteed to be valid until January 12, 2018. For budgeting purposes, this baseline proposal is rounded up to $6500. The proposal is then subject to the following conditions:

  1. Per December 2017 financial update, only $3314 is freely available for proposals. Contingent on passing this proposal on January 10, 2018, remaining funds shall be provided by relinquishing the remainder of the laser cutter proposal ($1905) and borrowing $1281 from buffer reserves (money set aside for 3 month rent and minimum account balance). No further proposals shall be allowed until the buffer reserves are replenished. It is expected that replenishment shall occur in time for the (end of) January 2018 financial update in the form of the organization's typical net income.
  2. Per Felder sales representative, the sale discount will be invalid after January 12, 2018, adding $1857 to the pricing total. Furthermore, Felder is planning to raise equipment prices by 6% starting in February. If this proposal passes after January 10, 2018, the proposal budget shall be raised to $8500. Furthermore, the proposal shall NOT be funded by borrowing from buffer reserves and shall rely on funds freely available for proposals. Terms for setting aside freely available funds for this proposal are TBD and/or subject to consensus decisions. If no additional proposals are made, funds are expected to be available by early April 2018.
  3. There is a marginal chance of 11th Hour concession by Felder on sale discount terms. In this case, terms are subject to change and voting expected to take place on January 17, 2018.
